I guess I would consider "Pride and Preju...Jordan,

I guess I would consider "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies," which I haven't read, nor have I read the source material, as a very long piece of fan fiction. Maybe. I guess that, in order to be fan fiction, it would have to use the original characters from Pride and Prejudice. And throw in zombies. If it does use those chracters, then, yeah, I suppose it's fan fiction.

I don't think you can apply the same logic to all non-fiction, though, even though you are essentially using "characters" from the "story" of reality. If you did that, you would then have to call designate all fiction as pieces of fan imagination, I guess, in that they use the characters from the "story" of the fiction writer's imagination.

I think the difference is that in fan fiction, you are directly drawing from an existing piece of art. Reality isn't art (I realize that somebody (Tim) could probably come in here and completely overturn this assumption, but let's go with it for the sake of my argument). You can make art out of reality, just like you can make art out of your imagination. (Is your imagination art? Eh, probably not, at least not in the literal sense.)Willy Nasthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09177679388368960701noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1993014363591225483.post-37777525656873719172009-04-21T02:02:00.000-05:002009-04-21T02:02:00.000-05:00Would you consider "Pride and Prejudice and Zombie...Would you consider "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" a rewrite of "Pride and Prejudice," or simply a very long piece of fan fiction? I think of fan fiction as an imitation/iteration of an original piece. Are non-fiction writings pieces of fan reality?jrshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09238218442166306232noreply@blogger.com
